I HAVE THE WONDERFUL DAVEE JONES IN THE HOUSE TODAY!!!

I'm excited to have a fellow Secret Cravings Publishing author in my crib today. Davee Jones is ready to take over and tell us a little about herself, her books, and life in general. Sit back and enjoy the ride.
First, I'd like to start with a few questions and then Davee will share her new release. Okay here we go!

CYNTHIA:  Okay Davee, let's start with a few personal questions.  As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

DAVEE:  I wanted to be a lawyer, it sounded so glamorous and professional. I also thought it would be cool to work in the travel business, such as on The Love Boat. C’mon, I know some of you remember that show. You remember the one that preceded Fantasy Island on Saturday nights. ;) I just dated myself. Whoops.

CYNTHIA:  That's okay, I loved watching those two on Saturdays. Great shows and yes I'm dating myself too. So tell everyone, if you came with a warning label, what would it say?

DAVEE:  I have mild OCD, a vivid imagination, a vast vocabulary and know how to use them all to my advantage.

CYNTHIA:  And I'm so glad you have. Okay, another personal one.  If you had to choose one person to have dinner with, who would it be? And why?

DAVEE:  I would have dinner with my wonderful husband, Alan. We do not take as much time alone as we should and when we do, we have fantastic conversations.  Besides that, we are still basically newlyweds!  LOL

CYNTHIA:  Ahhhh! That is sweet. I can only guess how you'll answer this last personal question.  If the world was to end tomorrow, what three things would be on your bucket list? Tomorrow?

DAVEE:  Wow, that’s not much time. For just 24 hours, okay, here goes:

1. Get to Oklahoma to the family ranch with my family
2. Eat my Grandma’s chicken and dumplings
3. Drink cold Coors Light with everyone by a big bonfire and make sure we say a few prayers.

CYNTHIA:  Yep, family and friends. Now, to the writing side.  Are there any authors who have influenced your work?

DAVEE:  I’ve read many of the mainstream authors, such as John Grisham, James Patterson, and Mary Higgins Clark. I really enjoy Patricia Cornwell for the suspense she brings into her stories. I like how some of her story lines are unpredictable.  However, I could not find a book like my first novel, Finless. I really just had to pull my creativity together for that one. It was very difficult at times.

CYNTHIA:  If one of your books became a movie, which celebrity would you like to star as your main characters?

DAVEE:  Ooooh, for Finless, I have three main characters. I would choose Maggie Gyllenhaal for Lily, Michelle Williams for Sara, and Ryan Gosling for Nathaniel. As far as On Ellicott Street, I would choose Andie MacDowell for Cassie and Ryan Reynolds for Eli.

CYNTHIA:  Like all them. Great ones.  What comes first for you: Setting? Storyline? Characters?

DAVEE:  I have not thought about this specifically until now. Great question. Once I reviewed each of my finished books, as well as any I have in progress, I realized the setting, storyline, and characters each inspired me at least once first in different works. I also interject familiar places into each of my books and sometimes use the names of familiar towns as character surnames. I see it as a type of “signature” or trivia in my fiction.

CYNTHIA:  I like to set my stories in places I've been. I think it makes the stories more real. At least to me anyway. But, enough about me.  What main genre do you write in?

DAVEE:  Romance is the main genre I write in. I also have thriller, paranormal, and young adult themed books in progress.

CYNTHIA:  Wow! What diversity. I'm impressed.  If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

DAVEE: As it went through editing and proofing I like the way On Ellicott Street turned out. Maybe I could have made it a bit longer, though.

CYNTHIA:  LOL. I think we are constantly re-editing after our manuscripts are complete. The writers in us. So, what inspired your latest release?

DAVEE:  One of my best friends who chose to live the rest of her life joyfully- instead of woefully-she is one who inspired On Ellicott Street. It took a great amount of courage on her part to break out of her monotony.

CYNTHIA:  And what do you have coming next?

DAVEE:  My next book scheduled for publication is Finless in April 2012. Finless is a dark erotic romance with BDSM overtones.

CYNTHIA:  Oh, me likey. I have several stories with those "overtones" as well. Almost done, only a few more questions. Anything else you want to tell us?

DAVEE:  Be ready for some edgy opinions/lifestyles when you read it because I cross some sensitive thresholds with this book. To take a quote from the People Vs Larry Flynt – Althea Leasure-“Nobody on this planet wants their religion and their pornography together.”

While I do not write pornography, erotica is a close cousin and many people are uncomfortable combining Christianity and sexuality. Finless dabbles in both and does not discount a human because of their chosen sexual proclivities.

CYNTHIA:  Do you have any suggestions for beginning writers? If so, what are they?

DAVEE:  Writing takes a huge investment of time and commitment. Anyone desiring success must think about their writing career every day and, if not working on a book, be networking and researching. I submitted my first book to so many publishers; I was very disheartened at the rejection letters. I took it too personally, but now understand it is all part of the process. You must persevere if you want success.

Also, be willing to take criticisms and suggestions. As hurtful as it may be, there may also be some valuable information included in what you perceive as negativity.

CYNTHIA:  Very wise words Davee. Okay, last one! What else would you like readers to know about you or your work?

DAVEE:  No matter what I write-edgy, erotic, angry, funny, pensive, sad, etc.-I always respect my faith in God. I want my readers to feel good by the end of any of my books by something included inside the cover. I do not Bible thump consistently through any of my books, so, even a non-believer should find something positive from my words.  However, the Lord and my guardian angel have seen me through some very rough patches, even when I was not attentive to my spirituality--That in itself enabled my faith to grow. It is my responsibility to share these blessings with anyone willing to listen.

Well thank you for answering my questions, Davee. I have a few short answer, quick-fire types next.

Leather or lace? Leather

Long or short hair?  Mine is long, I enjoy the versatility of it.

Fruity drink or strong liquor? Strong baby—very little sugars! Cause, on my 40th birthday, we had this fishbowl full of blue curacao, rum, juices….ugh…the hangover still makes me shudder…oh, the blue fishbowl…

Jeans or skirt? Jeans

Coffee or tea? I changed my answer so many times, sheesh, today, I say coffee… maybe…

Glamorous girl or girl next door? Girl Next Door, she will always surprise you

Picky eater or adventurous? Adventurous, just not Anthony Bourdain adventurous

Glamorous makeup or au naturale? Glamorous Make-up – need to strategically hide the wrinkles…

Sexy bed-head or sophisticated coif?  Sophisticated, but, who has the time…*sigh*

Yes or no: Does size matter? I must admit- Yes.It.Does.

Thanks for those quickies Davee. I'd like to thank you for honoring me and coming to my crib today. Now, I'll turn it over to you. Thanks again! Please those reading, give Davee some love and comment below.

Book Blurb:

As Cassie approaches fifty; she believes she missed her opportunity for love.  Raising her youngest son, Joshua, alone, she faces challenges that overshadow her personal needs.  Over the years, she lost touch with her essence, vibrancy, and femininity.  Long ago, she accepted monotony and loneliness as her destiny.  Fate intervenes in the form of a program to help Joshua adjust to his own young adulthood, where she meets Ellicott, or Eli.  However, Eli, an intellectual old soul disguised as a beautiful younger man also realizes Cassie’s needs as they discuss some of the most personal details of her life.   Cassie fascinates Eli and she arouses him mentally and physically. For them, age makes no difference; it makes her more beautiful to him, as Eli renews Cassie’s faith in romance.  As their connection deepens, they stimulate each other’s minds, as well as their physical desires, to a smoldering level of passion.

EXCERPT:
When her body finally settled from the first climax, Eli decided it was time to reward Cassie with the gift of his expansive manhood. He stood up and admired Cassie’s naked body one more time before he took his place on top of her and slid himself in slowly, inch by inch, until he fully filled her. He arched his own back to force himself even further inside and Cassie bucked her hips toward him for even deeper penetration.
“Oh, Eli…Eli! I needed this, oh, how I needed you!” Cassie repeated as Eli pumped faster, then slowed to enjoy the moment. Eli hoped he could sustain himself as long as he wanted. Cassie’s female essence was almost too much to bear, and he feared he would burst too quickly. But, he remembered how much he wanted to please her and slowed his pace to ensure success. Cassie screamed once again as he found the internal spot, his cock rubbing against what, from her reaction, seemed like raw nerve endings inside her tight box. She writhed underneath him as she came in waves, rolling, juices flowing like hot and salty ocean water.
Eli allowed himself release as her climax slowed and he moaned loudly in relief. His body jerked and shivered as he filled Cassie with his essence. His hands gripped her shoulders; her hair intermingled with his fingers, pulling deliciously with each shudder. Sweat poured from Eli’s body as his heart rate rocketed. “Cassie, Cassie, you are so…delicious.” Eli admired Cassie and everything she encompassed.
As they lay together with the late morning sun streaming through the window, Eli did not move from the top of Cassie’s body. He buried his face in her neck and almost wept from pure joy at the entire experience of the past twenty-four hours.

* * * *

Cassie incredulously played each moment in her mind over and over again, wondering how Eli helped her feel so alive.
Eli finally slid off the top of Cassie’s body, but only to her side. His body continued to touch her from shoulders to toes. He kissed her neck, décolletage, and down her arm. Neither of them spoke. As trite as it sounded, they did not want to ruin the moment that just occurred with simple words. They dozed off into light sleep for another hour or so.
When Cassie awakened, she noticed Eli still held onto her tightly, as if she were a security blanket.
It was only then that Cassie wondered how long she could retain what she felt at that very moment. She feared she might not have such an amazing chance again. As convincing as Eli was when they mutually seduced each other, Cassie believed a relationship with him to be futile. They had a sixteen year age gap for goodness sake!
